Drivetrain Repair in Danville, KY

Drivetrain work is where a lot of shops send people to the dealer — differentials, clutches, and transmissions scare the average mechanic. Not here. ASE master certification covers the drivetrain modules, and 8 years as a Toyota master technician means we've torn down more than a few Tacoma front differentials and Tundra transfer cases. We do the work, in-house, in Rockcastle County.

We handle the full drivetrain: CV axle replacement (clicking on turns is the classic tell), driveshaft u-joints and center carriers, differential service and repair (front, rear, transfer case), transmission service with the correct fluid for your specific gearbox (there are many — using the wrong one kills clutches and bands), and full clutch replacement on manual transmissions including the pilot bearing, throw-out bearing, and pressure plate.

Old-school drivetrain work: pull the pan, read the wear pattern, measure the preload, set the backlash to spec. Modern vehicles still follow the same physics — they just demand cleaner procedure and more exact tolerances. We bring both.

Old Souls Garage handles drivetrain repair for drivers across Danville, KY and all of Rockcastle County and the surrounding area. Call (606) 386-0997 and we'll give you honest numbers before you come in.

Inspect, road-test, check fluid condition, check pinion and axle play. Written quote before parts.

  3. 3

Common questions

My car clicks when I turn — is that a CV axle? +
Almost always, yes — usually the outer CV on the side that clicks the loudest. Replace it before the boot has been torn long enough to contaminate the joint, and it's a straightforward fix.
When should I service my transmission? +
"Lifetime fluid" is a marketing term, not an engineering one. Most automatics benefit from a service at 60,000–100,000 miles — we go by the service manual for your specific vehicle.
Do you do clutch replacements? +
Yes. Complete job — transmission out, flywheel resurfaced or replaced, pilot bearing, throw-out bearing, pressure plate, disc. Rear main seal checked while the transmission is out.
My 4WD doesn't engage — can you fix it? +
Yes. Could be transfer case, actuator, vacuum lines, differential lock, module — many causes. We diagnose and fix the actual cause, not just replace the transfer case motor and hope.
Can you rebuild my differential? +
Repair and service, yes. Full internal rebuild depends on parts availability for your specific axle — we'll tell you honestly whether rebuild or replace is the right call for your vehicle.
